Quintessence is Domaine Verdant’s special cuvée and sister wine to the popular Tryptique. It is created from the same selection of Dijon clones – including 113, 114 and 115 – but expresses itself with greater depth and structure through a more distinctive and selective barrel aging. Where Tryptique stands for the bright and immediate, Quintessence is the wine’s darker and more contemplative side.

The wine is aged for 18 months in both new and second-hand French oak barrels, selected to provide complexity without overpowering the elegant fruit. This aging style adds subtle notes of toasted oak, cedar and dried spices that wrap around the wine's red berry fruit and minerality.

In the glass, the wine is experienced with a deep ruby red color and a nose characterized by ripe cherries, raspberries, mushrooms and forest floor. The taste is delicate, clean and Burgundian in expression – with silky tannins, a fresh and precise acidity, and an airiness that makes the wine both elegant and complex. Everything appears controlled and balanced, characterized by skillful handling and a great understanding of the grape's potential.
