Domaine Justin Boxler Pinot Noir "Empreintes" BIO 2018 – Alsace, France

First vintage of this wine that is organically certified (AB/Bio) – and once again Justin Boxler proves that Alsace can also deliver elegant and fruity red wines in a special class.

The wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir from 50-year-old vines, grown on various granite-rich plots – including parts of the famous Grand Cru Brand. Production is small, only around 3000 bottles annually, with a low yield (49 hl/ha), ensuring both concentration and balance.

The color is light and classic for the grape, but the taste surprises with a nice intensity: dark and red berries – such as cherries, raspberries and blackcurrants – nicely rounded off by delicate barrel notes from older French oak barrels from selected Burgundian coopers. The combination of fruit richness and discreet woodiness creates a wine with both finesse and character.

The winegrower says:
"Different plots of Pinot Noir on several granitic terrains, in particular on the Grand Cru Brand. This wine is made between our free-run juice and press juice. The contribution of wood is reasoned by the age of our different barrels from different Burgundian coopers."

Dry and precise in style with only 0.1 g/L of residual sugar, a natural acidity and an alcohol strength of 13.73%. An obvious choice for white meat, poultry, charcuterie or grilled vegetables – or as a glass of red wine with both energy and finesse.
