Domaine Verdant La Follesse Pinot Noir 2018 – Oregon, USA

La Follesse is not just a wine – it is Ron Sanchez's most visionary creation. From the first drops in 2015, La Follesse has been the epitome of his pursuit of the ultimate in Pinot Noir. Every element is carefully selected, nothing is left to chance.

The grapes come from the classic Dijon clones 113, 114 and 115, grown in Oregon's prestigious Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Here, Pinot Noir thrives in the cool climate and complex soils, producing fruit with both intensity and finesse.

In the cellar, each clone is treated separately. The grapes are gently destemmed and fermented with the specially selected Assmanhausen yeast – a slow starter that also allows the natural yeast strains to have space. This creates a wine with layers upon layers of character and complexity, without the use of pre-maceration. Fermentation lasts up to 14 days.

The wine is then aged for two years in 100% new French oak barrels, specially designed for this project. Only then is the finished blend put together – the result of patient selection and attention to detail.

The name La Follesse, which translates to "repeated madness," alludes with a twinkle in the eye to the annual, almost manic pursuit of perfection – an inevitable obsession when working with a grape as sensitive as Pinot Noir.
