One of the lighter red wines from Domaine de la Tête Noire, here from Cairanne in the southern Rhone.
Made from 55% Grenache and 45% Syrah, handpicked grapes, destemmed and macerated for an average of 3 weeks. The wine is vinified in steel with overpumping and split racks. The wine is then aged for 11 months. on steel tank.
The wine has a nice dark red color
Aromas of red berry fruit, forest berries, cherries, licorice, pepper and a bit of balsamic.
In the mouth you can feel that the wine is still young, the berry fruit is full force, the tannins are marked but not violent. The wine has a light fruity acidity and a good freshness, with a long finish of sun-ripened forest berries.
Serve at 16-18 degrees, with everything good from the grill or roast pork, beef or lamb.
Houlberg gives the wine 92 points and calls it "luscious and good-natured"
