Domaine Justin Boxler Pinot Gris Selection of Noble Grains 2017 – Alsace, France

An exquisite wine from Alsace and a true masterpiece of the Pinot Gris grape variety, this Sélection de Grains Nobles (SGN) is a refined version of the famous vendange tardive, where the grapes are often attacked by noble rot (botrytis), which gives the wine its characteristic sweetness and complexity.

The 2017 vintage was unusually mild and dry, creating perfect conditions for the development of noble rot without rain. The grapes are harvested from 40-year-old vines, and only 650 bottles have been produced worldwide, making this wine an exclusive rarity.

The wine has a beautiful, golden color and an aromatic nose with clear notes of acacia honey. On the palate it is rich and full-bodied with a nice acidity that balances the sweetness and gives a fresh finish. A round and elegant gourmet wine that is perfect for desserts, blue cheeses or as a luxurious end to a meal.
