Petersen Vineyards - California
We are so lucky to have Peter's wines in our range because they are wines that suit our taste. Things have been thought about in the field and the cellar. After all, we like the idea of minimal sulfur and sulphite addition being cultivated. In our view, Peter's wines taste really good, each with their own personality.
Peter's story
Petersen Vineyards was established in 2012, and with the desire to learn the trade all from AZ, we started by learning how to grow grapes and handle our vines. With the first harvest in 2013 we made our first wine and the following year in 2014 we made our now famous Diablo Sunset.
Fully committed to our project, the winery license was established in 2015 and we devised and engineered our Zero MOG production process. With wine in storage, in 2016 it was time to create our marketing strategy, design labels, launch websites, all while setting up our facilities. Sales started in 2017 and the rest is history.
The winery's philosophy
A Sustainable Vineyard
SOLAR ENERGY! Petersen Vineyards is proud to say that our operation is 100% solar powered! Our excess solar energy production offsets fuel consumption and makes our footprint carbon neutral!
WASTE! We think about all our activities. The vineyard's waste water is treated and reused for irrigation of the vineyard. All harvest biomass waste is composted and returned to the soil.
RECYCLE! We sort and recycle our waste and we recycle our printed bottles. We pay DKK 5 for returned good bottles. There is money in recycling!
ORGANIC! We are not organically certified, but at our vineyard we only use organically certified products for pest and fungus control. Herbicides, such as RoundUp, are completely avoided!
ZERO MOG! We hand pick and sort our harvest 100% and all MOG (material other than grapes) is removed. The result is a fine elegant full-bodied wine, faithful to the character of the grape!
NO ADDITIVES! Our wines are made without chemical additives! We believe in "old school winemaking" and that wine takes its time. Open container slow fermentation and long maceration. There are no shortcuts - wine is not a chemical formula!
SULPHITE! A small amount of sulfite is necessary to preserve the wine. We are against overconsumption and use less than half of what the industry uses on average! No headaches with our wines!
VEGAN! Petersen Vineyards does not use any expensive products in our winemaking!
